Boron Trifluoride, BF3 Specialty Gas
Boron trifluoride (BF3) is a colorless gas with a strong smell at room temperature. It does not bum or support combustion. Itis 1.3 times heavier than air and produces white smoke when mixed with wet air, with a punity higher than 99.6%. Boron trifluoride can corrode glass at room temperature, while wet boron trifluoride is very corrosive. BF3 is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis, as a raw material for the synthesis of organic borides, and also used in nuclear technology and optical fiber.
